In reading, we have been learning about using text evidence to answer questions while reading the novels, Third Grade Angels and Fourth Grade Rats by Jerry Spinelli. We have also learned about the 6 signposts that author's use when writing fiction books: contrasts and contradictions, memory moments, aha moments, again and again, words of the wiser, and tough questions.
In math, we have been reading and writing large numbers as well as estimating when working with these numbers. In contrast, we have also been learning about reading and writing small numbers as decimals and fractions.
We have been having a lot of fun in science learning about biomes and how they are composed of smaller habitats. After learning about how the needs of living things are met in their habitats, we then created imaginary animals and placed them in various biomes in our hallway. Come and take a look!
We have been reading Charlotte's Web during our writers' workshop and applying various character traits to some of the "stars" of the book. We know that we need to support a chosen trait with text evidence to strengthen our papers on various characters in the book.
