This week in Mrs. Danley's lessons, we have been reading and talking about text with both facts and opinions. We read nonfiction text about predictions for the future (some of which are coming true now!) and plastic bottles. We continue to work on written answers that provide evidence from what we are reading. We have been reading about coral reefs in small groups and continue to read our realistic fiction novels.
In writers' workshop, we have been learning to write our narratives with a clear beginning, middle, and end by writing key words in a small time line. We continue to apply our showing details and use strong verbs.
We started our new unit in math, beginning to multiply and divide through word problems. We can use counters, diagrams, and multiplication problems to help get our answers.
In science, we have spent time outside drawing how shadows move throughout the day. We have been learning how the sun appears to move through the sky, but it is our Earth that is actually turning.
