Wow! It's already spring break. It doesn't really feel like it outside, but this year is flying. We hope that everyone has an amazing break and really enjoys the time off, whether you are traveling or staying local.
There has been a lot going on in our classrooms lately.
In math, we started rotating through centers as we work on our multiplication and division unit. We have a mini-lesson, followed by 4 stations, consisting of meeting with the teacher to review skills, independent seat work, fact practice, and technology. After each station, we reflect on what we've done, how we did, and things we may still need help with.
In reading, we learned about idioms. Maybe your child can share some with you over break. We also read some fables and legends and learned about the lessons they can teach.
In writing, we have been writing a legend, inspired by our lessons about Native Americans. We know that a legend or myth should explain something in nature and should have some sort of lesson.
In social studies, we've been working with Mrs. Darby's class to finish up our Illinois unit. We chose time periods and learned about how events during those time periods changed Illinois. We then created Illinois maps to reflect what was going on during that time period. Check out the pictures on our Class Pictures page.
It was a lot of fun working with another class.
See you after break!
