We continue to work hard in class!
We are still enjoying our read aloud, Marty McGuire. Be sure to ask your child what Marty could possibly want with a live frog . . .
In reading classes, we read a nonfiction piece on our solar system as a way to introduce our new science unit. By reviewing main idea and details, we not only continue to practice good reading strategies, but we have generated an interest in our solar system. To kick of researching our interests, the class has decided to research about black holes. We will be posting information on a class wiki soon!
We have begun our science unit on the solar system and look forward to learning more about the Sun, Earth, and Moon system as well as researching about planets. Through questioning, exploration, and research, we look forward to discovering more about our Earth and beyond!
We have finished our first narrative in writers' workshop and will be working on a second piece. By learning more about the organization of a good story and the characteristics of good leads and closings, our second published pieces should show great improvement.
In math, we have completed our Unit 3 test and will begin Unit 4 next week!
Thank you to those that have already begun conferencing with us! We look forward to meeting with the rest of you in the next couple of weeks!
