With our goal of continually providing a healthy learning environment at Westgate, all our in-classroom snacks will be limited to fruits and vegetables in their own skin (for example apples, carrots, bananas). If you have questions on what is acceptable please speak with your child’s teacher for clarification.
The benefits of eating fruits and veggies daily have shown to increase energy and focus due to the rich amount of vitamins and minerals. This connection of showing students how healthy foods impact their bodies and minds in a positive way will hopefully begin to set the foundation for many years to come. Snack time typically occurs during independent practice time, so it is a “working snack” and fruits and vegetables are easily eaten when students are completing various tasks.
Please remember that any food items that were being planned for “snack” and are not fruits or vegetables, can be eaten during lunch.
We are excited to continue on this pathway of healthy eating and overall wellness!
