We finished our fiction unit in reading. We compared two versions of The Three Little Pigs by noting similarities and differences in characters, theme/lesson, plot, setting, perspective, mood, and tone.
In writing, we wrote about character traits, supporting those traits with evidence from the text. We also wrote about the theme of the book. By defining that theme and supporting it with examples, the students see the necessity of explaining their ideas to the reader.
The students showed great enthusiasm for our forces unit! They explored with magnets and tested different "slides" with a variety of materials to observe the effects of friction.
